Common Beliefs Of Victims (as females)

1. A woman should stick by her man, no matter what.
2. A man has it rough in the world and can’t help getting angry.
3. A man is supposed to be the boss and the head of the household.
4. If she doesn’t take it, he’ll leave.
5. She needs him to get by and can’t make it by herself.
6. The good times make up for the bad times.
7. Maybe he’ll change. She really loves him.
8. When bad things happen to her, it must be because of something she did wrong.
9. The children need a father. An abusive father is better than none.
10. The children are not affected because he never abuses them & they don’t fight in front of them.
11. He’ll carry out his threats and take the children, kill her, etc.
12. No one will understand her, or believe her story.
13. He really loves her and doesn’t mean to hurt her.
14. Divorce is wrong, bad, evidence of failure, worse fate than death.
15. This marriage must succeed, it’s her responsibility.
16. He’s not really abusive, he just has a bad temper.
17. It’s not really his fauft.
18. Deep down inside, he’s wonderful and caring.
19. It’s not that bad. It only happens once in a while.
20. Men are just naturally more violent than women.
21. No couple is really happy. If they seem to be, they are either lying or faking it.
